The final two DVD extras from Across the Universe have finally been added to the gallery – it has also been accounced that One Day will be released in the third quarter of 2011, with production starting at the end of July, though Jim’s status on the film is still rumoured. A synopsis has also been released, with a bit more information than before:

Emma and Dexter meet on the night of their graduation – July 15th, 1988. She is a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place. He is a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground. But where will they be on this day next year, and the year after that? Over 20 years, we check in on Emma and Dexter every July 15th, and watch as their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years. Through love and loss, heartbreak and success, hopes fulfilled and dreams shattered, these two souls experience the sometimes wonderful, sometimes tragic, often hysterical but always moving, grandeur of life. Somewhere along their journey, they realize that sometimes what you are looking for has been right there in front of you all along.

We’re getting lovesick looking for more details on Juan Solanas’ scifi romance Upside Down. Not only will it star the heart-flutter-inducing Jim Sturgess, but Solanas put the brilliant Watchmen designer Alex McDowell in charge of his trippy inverted worlds.

Upside Down takes place in two worlds that are literally on top each other, each city with their own gravity system. Sadly, the citizens of each town can not visit the other, for unknown reasons. Jim Sturgess plays the main character Adam, who falls in love with a girl from the upside down world Eve, played by Kirsten Dunst. And like any good lovelorn hero, he’s not going to let a little thing like gravity get in the way of his heart’s desire.

The first thing Upside Down has going for it is the director and writer, Juan Solanas. We’ve been curiously watching his films for many years, and included a favorite below, The Man Without A Head. Take a look at the dingy futuristic city he’s created. There’s no question that his vision for Upside Down, has the potential to be visually stunning.

Second, Alex McDowell, who worked on Watchmen, The Crow, Fear and Loathing, Fight Club, and The Minority Report to name a few, is the production designer for this feature. Brilliant.

Michelle McGahey from Dark City and The Matrix is the Supervising Art Director. And finally Jim Sturgess will presumably doing what he does best, portraying a man in love. I’m on the fence about Dunst, but Sturgess has proved time and time again that he can pull off the saddened lover from a far.

The film is currently in post-production, and has a release date of May 2011.

Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach… a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown‐up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back… Not even the law or science!
